I have no idea, I honestly can't find any sort of logic to explain their actions this time. This goes against the unified library concept which I thought was the point of the NX.

errr wrong, Nintendo hasn't specifically stated anything about a unified library nor have they said specifically what the NX has. all that has happened is people have speculated.

and I think most likely what the situation will be is that the NX will be capable of being a home console AND a handheld- it will be essentially one device with multiple uses.

Nintendo will be transitioning to the NX and leaving the 3DS behind eventually, but look at it- its selling well lately (better than the Xone and far better than the Vita) in terms of hardware and also pushing plenty of software. They don't really have a business logic reason to abandon it yet

In the future I think its safe to say the NX will be their main priority but Nintendo has repeatedly stated they plan to keep working with the 3DS and that it is not getting replaced per say
