I think basically what your saying is imagine if COD and GTA went first party all of a sudden, taking their fans with them. If Mario and Zelda were selling 30 million copies on XBox and PlayStation, then Nintendo took the franchises back home, would the console be a success? I don't think it would be a good idea, but it's an interesting discussion.
I think they're dabbling with the concept on mobile. Release a game like Pokemon Go, hoping it hooks the broader market into buying the real games. |
If Nintendo could pull off sales like GTA and COD as a 3rd party imo that would be a surprise, but yeah I think better bet is for them to make demo's on the open platforms like PC, smartphones and such. So PlayableTrailers but the full game would only release on Nintendo's hardware.
