Why pessimistic? What have Sony got to be pessimistic about? They're selling the amount of consoles they targeted, making the money they expect to and are about to release the Slim, Neo and PSVR. Watch the E3 conference when Shawn Layden mentioned there are 40m PS4s out there capable of using PSVR. When he got a cheer from the audience for the 'number' he faltered slightly and said rather embarrassingly 'well ... thanks for that.'

People need to stop thinking Sony are PS Fanboys, they're a business.

The context of this thread as pointed out in my original post is the potential outselling of the PS4 by the Xbox One. I (not Sony) am pessimistic that the PS4 will outsell the Xbox One until I see more concrete information. This is my personal observation.

Being pessimistic is your prerogative, but i can't feel the same way. MS had to drop their price for two reasons:

1) to keep up with Sony or risk falling way further behind;

2) releasing their slim premium model and shifting old stock.

If MS had to go to those lengths to beat Sony by 10K, without Sony doing anything at all, then Sony doing the inevitable and dropping the price with the slim will do the same.

They've done this every gen since the PS1 and there is no reason why they won't do it, considering the slim has already been leaked.

It feels like you are being pessimistic because the inevitable won't happen. Had you been pessimistic last gen when Sony was struggling I might understand your pessimism, but this gen it's harder to do so.
