There are several advantages AND disadvantages of both, and Dual Band covers the best of both worlds.

802.11ac's benefits don't just mean better speed. It's much more reliable and less prone to interference. Which is CRUCIAL to gaming online. Why else can I get less than 10ms ping to Battlefield 1's servers?

That's not AC doing that for you, it's the 5 GHz bandwidth doing that for you.

Also, if you are geting 10 ms pings to Battlefield 1 servers, EA must have a data center near you (under 300 miles) with very, very, very few hops between you and it.  Your Wi-Fi ping to your access point should be low to begin with.

Ye, it's 1ms. But on 2.4GHz it's allll over the map.  My iPhone 5S is 5GHz N and it's really good too. So I don't mind. As long as it supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Then everyone wins.
