VR experiences are antithesis of Wii Play/Sports. One brings people together. Other seperates them from those sitting next to them. Just wanted to comment on that portion. I think it would be really bad strategy. |
The emphasis there was on the presence of made for purpose experiences, beyond that both rely on novelty. If the NX had VR experiences on it that wouldn't take away from the couch, 4player Mario Kart/Smash Bros/Party game experiences that are obviously on the way. We also have to remember that the NX is a handheld device which is typically in possession of one person. Not everything Nintendo does has to relate to social experience, both the DS (dual screen) and especially the 3DS (3D screen) had USPs which were about impacting a single individuals experience of the game they were playing. Similarly the gamepad was used for assymetric multiplayer experiences as well as single player.
After being told the screen resolution requirements are very high (more than 1080p?), I don't believe Nintendo will do VR with the NX but otherwise I don't see whats wrong with using it as one of many USPs for the system.
