AC is pointless unless you have an Internet connection that can saturate that much bandwidth.

If your ISP provides you with 100 Mb download, what good does having a 1.3 Gbit Wi-Fi connection?

Something else to consider. while AC is 5 Ghz only, the successor, AX, will revert back to having both 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz.

802.11 N also has beam forming. But it's optional. So if you buy a wireless access point without it, you get poor 5 Ghz performance through walls.

There are several advantages AND disadvantages of both, and Dual Band covers the best of both worlds.

802.11ac's benefits don't just mean better speed. It's much more reliable and less prone to interference. Which is CRUCIAL to gaming online. Why else can I get less than 10ms ping to Battlefield 1's servers?
