I don't think it's the games themselves, I think it's the way Nintendo presents them. Like you said, they're usually pretty good games, but Nintendo just has such a boring way of revealing them. They should show some really fun, flashy, exciting trailers during their directs instead of showing gameplay clips while a guy's voice drones on in the background about gameplay details.
