Sure they were (both released first year), and they didn't help Wii U sales. And now it looks as if Pikmin either is a game we can take off the list or at least isn't exclusive. So even less of a reason now.

We arent really talking first year though, but launch title. It's a huge stretch calling games released 9 and 11 months after reveal launch titles. So let's not. Launch titles / launch window / first year.
