Bad AI, especially in strategy games. What really bugs me is that it feels like nothing has been done about it, there's still huge issues that have been present for over a decade that haven't been fixed. Such as the AI not knowing how to boat in every single Paradox game.

Although I guess it wouldn't be the same if it were fixed, goofy AI is all a part of the fun of these games. Plus then you wouldn't be able to conquer the world as the Ryukyu Islands.

AI is a pretty complex thing to do. It's especially tough in RTS games, because there's typically a ton of units, distances are long, and of course because it runs in real-time so there isn't really that much time for complex calculations. And strategy games in general can have pretty complex situations from the AI's point of view, so it's hard to even analyze what's going on. It's probably doable at this point, but I imagine it's still not simple. I'm not saying I'm happy with the way things are, but I kind of understand. Also, I guess AI isn't really that much of a focus because you don't get much to show by focusing on AI, and everything seems multiplayer-focused these days.
