Yeah... that's the funny thing about McCain. He's a moderate who says rightwing things just to get people to vote for him.
All three candidates this election seem nearly exactly the same.
Clinton being the worst because her healthcare plan is "Everyone who doesn't have healtcare gets fined". This is her plan in the middle of a recession.
I'm more likely to vote for Mccain just do to the fact that it seems Obama gives no insurances we'd go back into iraq should a genocide start or they get invaded.
Most of the country (though not me.) seemed to be for the war. Or at least that's how most of the congress voted for said people.
Iraq short term is more fucked up then it was when Sadam was their. Long term it will most likely stay more fucked up if we leave. Considering we invaded them without any urging from their citizens i'd say it's our responsibility to stay they and try and fix shit.
Polls show the same thing. They hate that we're there but they'd hate it even more if we left.
In the end though it's the difference between 2 years and 5. As Mccain said that within 5 years the troops in iraq would mostly be sent home and that those that stayed there would not be part of the fight to keep iraq stable... and just be used to guard Iraqi interests.
Though I trust him more to stop a genocide.
