Sure. I mean if the pokemon cartoon is any indication about the game... you basically decide "Hey I want to make monsters fight each other" and you get to wander around everywhere crashing at pokemon centers and getting free food as you have to do absolutely nothing that seems to qualify as a job and no money is exchanged except for stuff for your pokemon.
Why would anyone pick any other profession?
