Xenoblade Chronicles X I assumed would be, until I saw Breath of the Wild at E3.
But let's be real, I'll be getting it on Nintendo's next gen console, so it is kind of a next generation title.
Handhelds have been weaker this generation, in my opinion. But two game franchises really stood out with vast improvements from the last generation: Monster Hunter and Fire Emblem. Plus we got Zelda Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Xenoblade, and Dragon Quest 7, 8, and 11. incoming. Strong releases, but I don't think they beat the original DS which had more content, more originality, and bigger entries for the time: Final Fantasy 3, 4, Revenant Wings, Crystal Chronicles, Radiant Historia, Dragon Quest 4, 5, 6, and 9. The first major 2D Mario game since SNES, the revival of adventure games like Phoenix Wright, the arrival of Rune Factory, the first great handheld Mario Kart, and the list goes on.
