Barkley said:I've literally never used a tablet outside of my own house or someones house I am visiting. A tablet is literally just a phone with a bigger screen and without the ability to make calls in most cases. I'll use my phone that can actaully fit in my pocket when out and about, and a tablet when I'm not mobile to have a larger display.

There isn't many phones that break the 6 inch mark, and those phones also don't have controls they have to fit on the sides. It's just not practical. If the NX is this size you will see FAR less people using it out and about than the 3ds. It will lose a vast majority of it's appeal as a portable gaming device.

How many people carry mutliple LARGE devices out with them anyway? If someone DOES indeed take a tablet out with them will they want to take a massive handheld out with them too? If they have to choose between them will they pick the games console or the Smart Device. The 3ds is small enough that space management isn't even an issue.

A handheld with a screen size over 6 inches is a terrible mistake. I really hope the consumer version of the NX is smaller, I think it will be.

Not for Nintendo, but maybe for people who want a traditional handheld they can put in their pocket. The reality is that the market for such a device is only continuing to shrink. A screen over 6" may mean they initially loose some of their old market but they equally have a lot more to gain by making the NX closer to a tablet in functionality. The tablet industry is  pushing 200m units a year(versus the handheld markets 13m) and Tablets are in need of diversification, Nintendo can offer this. Annecdotely I feel pretty confident that most kids 8-17 would rather have a tablet, then a 3DS. Nintendo can offer them 2 in one. Beyond that the hybrid premise is essentially Nintendo's future and its requires a powerful handheld, Tegra X1 will struggle in 6" across casing.

A year or 2 down the line Nintendo would certainly be able to offer a more portable version of the NX, but I'm hoping for an 8" screen personally, I also think it makes better business sense for them.
