I don't understand why you talk so much for resolution in console games.
I admit i cannot play pc games lower than 1080p but my pc monitor is just 30-40 cm from my face.
But my tv is 3 meter away and even though is 50 inches i don't have problem with 720p games.
Even though for mobile gaming i understand the resolution thing because you play from close range too.
