That's not the patent I was talking about. This one is, discovered several days after Eurogamer's report:

Detachable controller sides on a tablet like device. Things that make you go "hmmmmm". 

Exactly, this one was filled/found after the Eurogamer article and can be seen as a refinement or improvement over the original idea that they also patented. Just because today's patent regarding the SCD shows no extra power supply, it doesn't mean that it won't have it later.
