| Zanten said: Thanks but, and this is going to sound really sudden, I sort of don't own the game anymore. >>;;; Basically, after I made the last post I went to play some more NMS, explore Voltaire a little more, maybe branch out to the other planets and moons in the Antaues system. It was then that I ran into a brand new crash-inducing bug that was worse than the other dozen or so crashes I've put up with since playing. Worse because it actually caused my entire console to lock up for ten to twenty seconds before finally crashing, and unlike the menu bug, the hyperdrive bug, the multitool dispenser bug, etc, these didn't seem to have a direct cause that I could predict, much less avoid. I'd start the game, walk, walk, walk... game crashes. Restart the game, try a different direction, walk, walk, walk... game crashes. Restart the game, walk, walk, walk... game crashes. Over the course of the twenty minutes I was playing, this crash hit me three times. So I went through a few moments of finally releasing some of the pent-up rage I'd been bottling up. Considered waiting on a patch that might or might not fix the issue. Checked Hello Games for any updates, then the patch notes on 1.05. 'Bug Fixes.' HMMM. So I ran out of patience, hit up Sony's support chat, and got a refund. The process was actually much smoother than I anticipated, guy on the other end was a gentleman and a scholar. So yeah. Despite having massively looked forward to this game for the last few years, the numerous crashes and other issues have just kind of killed it for me. x_X I seriously envy those of you who haven't had to deal with this mountain of technical bullshit.
Happy flying, everyone. |
I've been there too a couple of times, especially after having to start over after 8 hours beging stuck in the start systems and after crash streaks so bad I didn't think the game would come back up anymore, repeatedly crashing on start up. Staying in the same system or same planet too long might still cause memory problems, too many local changes perhaps. I've had more luck with 1.05, only 2 crashes so far (One a freeze I had to manually turn off the game) Kinda telling that 'only' 2 in a few days sounds good, yet with 1.03 I've had at least 40 crashes.
Since I have a physical copy I didn't take the trouble to bring it back to the store, instead send hello games a large email with all the issues. Ofcourse all I heard back was the standard reply email and a ticket number 28196. I wonder if they started at 1, quite a lot of emails, 1% or not...
We are a small team, so unfortunately we won't be able to reply to general messages here but we'll try and get to all urgent game queries within 48 hours during office hours.
Please do not send repeat emails unless in direct response from us as this may risk your email address being marked as spam and blocked.
I don't expect much. Elite Dangerous wasn't any better in the beginning and that is MMO with your save online. It took a month before I got a reply after losing my ship due to a game bug. Random ship explody bug was fun, the ship was insured for 90% of the value, yet you lose all the cargo, many hours of trading gone in an instant, not enough money to fill the ship back up, start small again.
Hopefully NMS will get an 'apology of the year' edition with all the bugs fixed and the promised content added. Maybe you'll feel like trying again.
