The vast majority of the positive reviews are from pre-1.0. Why would I listen to reviews from what the game was prior to the 1.0 release? That is an inherent, glaring flaw with the Early Access system, where reviews just keep on keeping on while a game is developed. The negative reviews are seriously in depth about the issues following 1.0 as well, whereas the average positive Steam review is about six words and a joke, which lets you know there is legitimately something to complain about here if Steam users actually care enough to type out their thoughts in full and then hundreds of people procreed to agree with those thoughts. These aren't all people with two to ten hours either. These scathing reviews are people with hundreds of hours who have been following the game for years.

So yeah, I feel reasonably comfortable trusting these people who trusted the developer enough to follow the game for years, enjoy what it turned into, only to have much of that ripped away because apparently it wasn't deemed functional enough for a 1.0 release.

Granted, I accept that much of the agreement may just be initial backlash, but paying attention to the actual content, the game as it was right up to 1.0 sounded like a treasure. 1.0 sounds like a polished turd trying to appeal to the lowest possible denominator.

I've been checking the reviews since before the last quote, the negatives still aren't vastly outweighing the recent positive ones, same with talk on CF official forums either.

I see you focus on the negative parts of reviews than the positives because I'm checking the positive recent reviews right as I type and I'm seeing a good deal of people writing more than 6 words.

By all means feel comfortable with trusting those reviews, I just hope you do this for every other game because it honestly sounds like you picked this out to dislike greatly due to a few reviews. I've been with the game since it hit early access, I know what has and hasn't changed and it's not really doom and gloom as some make it out to be, though I would guess that if I read a few bad reviews on a game that takes your fancy and went with them, you would argue differently (human nature).

Some of the content that didn't make it didn't entirely make much sense or fit into the play style for some that would otherwise be barred like I had mentioned before. Back in early access I found it insanely frustrating at having to slap down a campfire every few feet or I'd freeze to death on practically every planet, even deep below on a desert biome. Then of course there were those planets where you couldn't dig too deep or you'd burn to death, this is why we have suit upgrades and we still have those to this day to survive elements like radiation, airless moons etc.

If it's a turd for you then it's going to be one forever, I'd suggest in moving on if it doesn't take your fancy.

I wonder if Star Citizen will take your fancy since that is a game that isn't catering to the supposed lowest common denominator.
