Nope. I'm buying less digital now as I have seen the error of my ways. If I'm gonna spend money on something, I want total control, not partial... and I want it to be there even when the host company doesn't anymore.

Except you dont have total control.

Once your CD or Cartridge gets damaged and becomes unresponsive - its a paper weight - same with the platform that plays the game.

Both Physical and digital have their end of lives. No one form is better than the other in absolute fashion.

Digital wise - PSN/XBL/PC (in all formats) you are pretty much secure - as long as the services run which I dont see how any of them will be closing down anytime soon.

Nintendo however is a different issue - they are still lagging behind when it comes to digital support unless they come up with something similar to how the digital content is locked to your account and not the console itself.

But you just listed the biggest problem of the digital: the services need to keep running. While yes, its very unlikely that they stop working overnight, its a much safer alternative to just have the physical verdion, as long as you have at least a minimal care for the disk(which lets be honest, as long as you dont lose it, its very hard to break or anything of the sort, and if the hardware breaks its a problem for both physical and digital).I mean, anything could happen in 20 years.Sony could go bankrupt, microsoft could go bankrupt, and even Nintendo too, and that could put your digital titles in jeopardy. But if you have the physical verdions, its a garantee it would work. But to be quite honest, both situations(in which you lose the ability to play your games) is very unlikely, so we all will be good.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
