I'd make it better than he ever even imagined. Add a character creator that let's you design your main character, picking between Human, Winglies, and Gigantos, and then your choice will later influence which Dragoon spirit you bond with, as well as change who some of your companions are, and the opening act of the game. Adding a lot of replay value. Expand on Dragon summons. Letting you call on them for traversal, and include some interactive monster fights with them. Also add Dragon team up attacks in battles, so that if two or all three of your active party are in dragoon form and have dragons unlocked, and the necessary MP, they can unleash them at the same time for varying degrees of awesomeness. Make additions even harder on higher difficulties, by moving the target square around on the enemies and making you use the stick up, down, left, or right to keep your moves on point. Allow you to toggle Dragoon magic for alternate purposes to make them more dynamic, and allow them to play different roles in combat to mix things up. Like your Red Dragoon might have a tier 3 fire spell that can either be a straight damage fire wave you shoot at your enemies, or you could change it to a fire wall that surrounds your party and enemies will take a little damage every time they cross it to attack you. Basically it would be the best thing ever. BraLoD probably got a little wet just reading this post. And now he has to live with the knowledge that it'll never ever happen. Sadly, so do I......

Your dragoon team up attacks comes very close to my addition team up one. When having said chars battling together too often, they would start building team additions, from 2 to 3 chars at the same time, so for example, the char you are using attacks with X, the second attacks with SQUARE and the last with TRIANGLE, and everyone keeps countering with O.
I would also love to have more complex and longer additions, I know people can have problems even with Gust of Wind Dance, but I'm so damn used to the additions I barely even miss a single one in an entire playthrough (back in the day I could do every Dart, Rose and Lavitz additions with my eyes closed). Would also love to have more dragoon levels and more strategic based effects on their magics, so turning into dragoon would not become just a choice later in the game, as additions are so powerful that going dragoon is mostly for coolness, status heal and to get a defense boost.
Also liked the idea of making the dragons as vehicles, as we have all kinds of them, this could be pretty nice.
Oh, and make Lloyd a playable character when he is sticking with our group.
But I dislike the characters idea, I want it to keep being FF like, not going WRPG. Defined characters and story.
