You could argue that, from the perspective of a more traditionalist person, homosexuality is also harmful in the way that it "doesn't really allow you to reproduce and have a normal family, leaving one to indulge in degenerate behaviour - leading to a more miserable life". 

This 'gradual acceptance' of pedos i believe might come, not from the impossible lack of the need to protect our kids, but from empathy towards the 'poor, oppressed, ostricized people of diffirent sexual taste'. After all they are people just like us, right??

Biological reproduction is not a necesseary component of a relationship. The infertile and the elderly still engage in happy relationships without the ability to procreate. Nor is a heterosexual nuclear family for that matter. As for "degenerate behaviour", by which I take it you mean physical intimacy within a same-sex relationship, why would intimacy between loving partners make them unhappy? Does sex with your wife/girlfriend make you unhappy?

Your fears are misplaced. The acceptance of homosexuality has come about because as Western society increasingly sets aside religious prejudice, they see that it poses no harm. Pedophilia, on the other hand, represents severe harm to society's most precious members, our children. The two aren't remotely comparable.
