Well, even within the bible it says many times over that having faith in Christ will likely cause problems for believers socially. The Romans would hunt down and execute them for crying out loud. It's a part of the faith.
So my advice? Worship in the way your heart says to worship, let those who have negative things to say about it say whatever they want to say, turn your cheek and continue being you. No one can tell you what to believe and how to believe it.
