The DS has sold the same in both the Americas, and in Japan. :o

The population of Japan was bound to catch up with it, it has much, much more room for growth in america than it does in Japan. In Japan even if they come up with a new model, price drop, release DQ it isn't going to increase sales that much (most of the increase would be artificial, IE people are buying second DS).
