I don't see any problems with what you have outlined. It all sounds good to me. It will make sharing codes/tags much easier, so it's thumbs-up with me.
Maybe there could be a checkbox for only allowing people on your friendlist to send a request? You may have mentioned this in your post, if so just ignore this. :)
