Base building and owning freighters is coming soon. Hopefully in next weeks update. They're also working on improved AA and a new atmosphere algorithm to create better skys.

They said once you discover it stays there for others.  You can see planets on galatic map people have discovered and named. 

So it stays when you leave.

I stayed on Sean's interview where he said that when we were leaving a planet, everything was thrown away and that if we came back the rock that had been destroyed earlier would be there again (or something like this) because of the procedural generation.
