Cheebee - It's not like RE5 is some sort of wacky, new version of Resident Evil that is vastly different than RE4 in any specific respect.

RE4 sold:
140k on Wii in Japan (46,293 First Week)
220k on GameCube in Japan (142,152 First Week)
490k on Playstation 2 in Japan (241,586 First Week)

For a grand total of 750,000+ units in Japan alone. So your idea that the Japanese won't buy a GOW-esque shooter is wrong. Look at MGS. Ultimately, if the game is home-grown (ie, Japanese) it can do rather well, even if the content looks more "Westernized". Final Fantasy is this way: anymore it appeals to the West, but that doesn't bar sales in the East.

Now, if it's PS3/360 only in Japan, I wouldn't expect some sort of magneficent sales in Japan since it's missing out on the main console in Japan - maybe 350k-400k in Japan, LTD between both systems.

However, it WILL do gangbusters in the US (I'd expect atleast 2m in the US alone from RE5 on 360), and should do well in Japan too.

I think RE5 could see 5m LTD sales on the PS3/360.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
