In Japan, which is THE ENTIRE POINT OF MY ARGUMENT, FF8 outsold FF7 (although 10 still outsold 10-2 and 12).
My argument this whole time has been that SE is probably looking at their Japan:Everything Else ratios, and worrying about sales of FF13 in Japan as it is likely that they will need an ungodly attach rate to match sales of previous games in Japan. I personally expect FF13 to fall right around 5.5-6.5 million LT worldwide, which would make it the 4th best selling FF ever. However, in Japan I don't really know what to expect, and so my estimation is that it will be around 1.3-1.7M LT. The reason they are likely worried is that they don't have that much data on what their (big) games will do worldwide without strong Japanese sales.
