Unfortunately for x1, the 360 saw a huge surge in the current upcoming launch aligned months. Not to mention the x1 saw numerous major price cuts very early on. To look at x1 and consider it a success based on its sales versus xbox 360 would be a rather glaring oversight.
remember, that at this point in time, xbox 360 was adding more and more expensive versions and growing in popularity with a very high attach rate. The same cannot be said about x1.
x1 is indeed dying. Price cuts don't increase sales, they just make later sales happen earlier.
