| Soundwave said: Nikkei basically reported it'll be able to run Android apps full stop. Nikkei is almost always right even when Nintendo denies their reporting. Which makes sense, Nintendo can then take 30% of the profit from smartphone apps on NX. They don't have to run Android as an OS per say though, could still be a custom Nintendo OS, just with an Android fork underlay or something. My personal feeling is Android apps are indeed in and Android devs will easily be able to add physical controls to their Android games. |
I don't think so at all, being able to natively run android applications on your system instantly opens it up to piracy. Nintendo couldn't keep piracy away from the 3ds/WiiU for more than a couple of years with their own OS from scratch. An OS capable of running android apps natively, or based on Android will open the door for homebrew and piracy pretty much day one.
