The answer to the question is absolutely not. The reality is that Grand Theft Auto is not geared toward the Wii demographic which does not, and never has accepted mature themed games. Even games that Mimic Grand Theft Autos play style are deadpanned by the Wii owner. Further more as has been noted before there is no name recognition on the Wii beyond Nintendo. A typical Wii owner has already decided to forgo third party name brands if they only own a Wii.

So you would explain why Guitar Hero III has sold almost 3M copies and over twice as many as PS3 how?

Do yourselves a favor, and check the sales. Scarface, Godfather, No More Heroes, Manhunt 2, and a number of other titles have proven the rule. Mature just doesn't sell on the Wii.

Scarface, Godfather, No More Heroes and Manhunt 2 were decent but hardly blockbuster games mostly ported over. Until some really excellent 3rd party adult games are offered, this reamains untested

Those who own the console do not want these types of games. Even standard console fodder such as Madden fails in the Wii kiddie pool. Yes it is somewhat alarming that the PS3 with less then half the install base in North America of the Wii can manage to still move many more copies of Madden.

Madden by their own admission have never really made a version actually designed for the Wii. That is going to be done for the first time this year and I for one plan to grab it.

I think the title would struggle mightily to sell a million on the Wii, and to actually sell two million would be damn near miraculous. Beyond that I think some posters are in denial about exactly whom they are playing their console with. You are not playing with other gamers that prefer or even like mature gaming. You really are playing with very casual players.

The majority of Wii purchasers is males 28 and up. This audience would support good quality ADULT fare. That said, your estimate of GTA sales is probably accurate however because I personally wouldn't count that as adult. That degree of gratuitous violence and sophomoric dialogue seems to be aimed mostly at an adolescent not an adult audience. Would you call Wii Fit kiddy fare - no you'll probably dismiss it as a non-game. This prevents the full significance of this phenomena from upsetting you.

PS: Not wishing to spend countless hours on a video game wrestling with overly complex control and watching 90 cut scenes is not so much a definition of casual as the definition of balnce and having an actual life to manage.
