Don't let hype dictate what you watch so much. 2016 movies I saw that were very good (imo), but won't be found in the Top 10 (or Top 50 for that matter):
Hail Caesar (comedy)
Eddie the Eagle (heart warming drama)
The Nice Guys (comedy thriller)
Eye in the Sky (drama thriller)
Just because they aren't setting box office records, doesn't mean they aren't good or worth your time and money. From your list by the way, I actually thought The Jungle Book and Tarzan were good. As for Independence Day, you should have known better. That had as much chance of being good as a sequel to Escape From New York 15 years later (Escape From LA), or a sequel to The Blues Brothers 18 years later (Blues Brothers 2000).
