It's a good idea but just realise that it only works if you actually move your head around. And of course it 's not using stereoscopic vision (you need shutter glasses and a real 3D-sterescopic TV for that) - BUT if someone bothered they would combine the head tracking and Real 3D TV to produce an effective Holagraphic display.
I can just see someome playing virtual boxing and demolishing their TV with a right jab - will need TV's with plate glass if this ever gets popular.
And yer the PS3 eye doing real face -detection and tracking is the way to go - the whole idea of the PS3 eye with 4 microphones was to do directional sound pickup of course.
The other advantage with real face tracking is you can do lip reading and detect facial expressions of the player which makes for some interesting posibilities in interactive games
Think of this your player in the virtual environment mimics your actual facial expressions and sais everything you say - so your player is not just some remote controlled robot but a real time virtual version of you - have a conversation with other players inside the game etc.
