So I think it's pretty safe to assume Nintendo will NOT be revealing NX live at TGS 2016

Uh technically that's not true, N64, GameCube, GBA were all announced and shown first outside of E3 or TGS (Shoshinkai 1995 and Space World 2000). Even the 3DS and Wii U if you want to get technical were announced before E3. 

Fair enough, but they had huge showings at E3 prior to release (at least 3ds and Wii U).
