DMC does have some good levels but best in the genre? I wouldn't say that, God of War games in general have better level designs but its still better than Platinum Games levels I will give you that :P

They chose 3 though and 2 is really amazing. I can't understand why people chose the first God of War over any of the spinoff games that were all better and Devil May Cry over Devil May Cry 3.
