| RolStoppable said: Surprising that this thread has quite a few positive responses, considering that NX in this form would be a portable Wii U Gamepad with inferior ergonomy when played at home. The most baffling thing is that Nintendo would go with such a weird design and then have the docking station ruin any hopes for backwards compatibility with Wii U software, because the screen needs to sit in the docking station. This mockup visualizes why the Eurogamer rumor is so bad. Just like the "leaked" NX controller from a few months ago, the creator of the rumor thinks that Nintendo won't stray off far from what the Wii U was. NX is basically all about selling a "better" version of Wii U. |
People like Nintendo handhelds. People like Nintendo software. People would like a Nintendo home console with smart design and high output of software, both 1st party and 3rd party. People would also like a Nintendo home console which they can justify having next to their existing PS4/X1/PC. This concept addresses a lot of those points.
I used to want the NX to be a dedicated, high end console but once Neo and Scorpio were announced I knew there was no real room for Nintendo to do the same. They could but I don't think it would result in a big win for them. Looking at Breadth of the Wild, I realised I really just want to enjoy Nintendo games and I think this is the most convenient and effective way to ensure a healthy software cycle and it offers us a bloody powerful handheld with a full scale HD/console pokemon RPG becoming a reality.
