I didn't, no. But I'd be fine with it if it was good new blood. Pokémon didn't need new blood at all, though. X & Y were amazing. |
I myself prefered X/Y to ORAS (and I'm a gen III fan...) but as of now Sun/Moon look extremely good, they might become my 2nd favourite games in the series after Emerald replacing X/Y.

1. X and Y weren't amazing, it was a massive step backwards for the series and probably the worst generation. 2. How was ORAS ruined?? I never even beat the first gym |
1.X/Y was a massive step forward for the series, no other generation had a change as big as Megaevolution that really twisted the metagame, the fighting engine of X/Y is the only one to be in 6 different games and it'll likely be in a few others it beeing the first one to use 3D models in the mainline series. The Fairy type was a needed change that, even if not optimally balanced still gave the dragons the nerf they deserved while not making them useless and helped the poinson type to be used more. The use of a fully 3D world created some of the best puzzles and concepts for gyms and settings to date and the story tried to move away from the regular with AZ and his backstory.
2.By the fact that you never beat the first gym you can see how the game was unappealing to players aswell as not catching the spirit of the original titles it was supposed to remake, many cool characters like Archie, Maxie, Wallace and Wally were made goofy and changed way too much from their original concepts, heck, Maxie who previously was the Villain boss who resembled the most Giovanni was turned into a nerd with no purpose, he never showed a glimpse of intelligence to try to defeat the player while the original Maxie in Emerald did something that no other Villain boss did in the series: he redemed himself during the story and helped you to convince Archie that what both Teams were trying to do was wrong. Not only that, they didn't give us the Battle Frontier from Emerald, by far the best one in the series, explaining that "It'd be too dfficult for players nowdays" when after you defeat the 5th gym leader you are gifted with a leggendary (seriously, no battle or catching, the game says "X Pokémon joins your team !") taking away from the post game that tries to make you spend time catching legendaries in the dumbest ways possible. Finally the additional NPCs and the lower level first 4 gym leaders made it so that even with stronger 5th to 6th gym leaders and E4 the game was extremely easier than the originals. The only positive notes are the Episode Deltha which added to the plot and explained why Megas exist in this games but not the originals and the trials to find the Regis which remained almost identical (not a bad thing).
