Third-party games on WiiU - were they worth it?

I really loved these Nindie games:
Steamworld Dig
Bit.trip Runner 2
Guacamelee
Fast Racing Neo
Nano Assault Neo
Swords and Soldiers II
Runbow
EDGE

... they're all games I feel much better about buying than most AA and AAA games anyway. I have enjoyed several other of the games you mentioned.

I did really enjoy Assassin's Creed IV a great deal on the WiiU. It has the worst framerate of versions of ACIV - but nothing no less tenable than other AC games on other consoles. However, having a complete minimap available to you on the GamePad is a completionist's dream. I think it actually does this feature better than Zelda, Xenoblade, and the Arkham games.

It's a real shame than Need for Speed: Most Wanted wasn't a launch title for the system. It has substantially better graphics than 360/PS3 counterparts and compelling use of the gamepad for maps and the co-driver mode. The motion controls available for this game were really fantastic too - better than Mario Kart IMO.

I haven't yet gotten into Darksiders 2. I hope that along with Darksiders 1 will help scratch my Zelda itch for the rest of 2016
