Aye the set up for remote play outside of your home wifi is really going to be beyond that of the average user I think and the end result if you do manage it is fairly weak which is a shame because if you have the ps4 set to use a wired lan connection the home remote play can be fantastic.

I make use of it a lot if we are sitting down to watch some stuff on the big screen or if I'm in bed I'm in a room directly above the PS4 so get a great connection to it to continue a game while chiling out. Vita's remote play for me makes it an even better product since buying the ps4, gives the nice features of the wii-u but for the playstation systems.

Yes, I think it's a great extra. It's not a good reason to buy a Vita just for that, but it's nice to have the option. One thing that I miss is the possibility to use it as a second controller. I've already done that with remote play, but you can't shutdown the screen, giving you roughly 5 hours of battery. I think it should have a "controller 2" mode, basically, remote play with the screen off.

This! If only money/time for 1 platform, I'd prefer the home console.

But 1 home console + 1 handheld is the better solution than 2 home consoles or 2 handhelds IMHO.

That's why I'm looking forward to NX, it can give the first option in a single device.

Aye you know if you turn the brightness all the way down and of course mute the system then the battery will last a considerable amount longer... not as long as if the screen was off entirely of course... just... don't make the facepalm moment mistake I did once mid game, cos ya know... turning off the wifi on the vita really saves battery life... *cough*
