You're the first one I've EVER seen that agrees with me on this! Honestly, I think it gets a bad rep because people just lump it in with the other two.
But the pure emotion, action, and drama in this movie makes it actually one of my favourite all-time films. How is it even POSSIBLE to cram so much suspense into a movie whose outcome people have known for 20 years?!?!?
I'm even going to take it a step further and say that Hayden Christiansen (Anakin) is NOT a bad actor! I believe that in Episode 2, he was a victim of circumstance. That entire movie was ungodly horrible in almost all respects, and he got the shaft because it was his first big show. In contrast, he had the 'good guy who's been manipulated, betrayed, and twisted' thing going so well that I kept finding myself hoping against HOPE that he wouldn't turn to the dark side! How the hell do they DO that?
Not to mention the Obi vs. Ani fight was intense and packed plenty of emotion. Father-figure who doesn't like to fight but will if it's to defend peace, squaring off against his former student, the most powerful figure in the force ever, who's been twisted and deceived into thinking wrong is right. AWESOME!
