Exactly! People tend to forget that Nintendo owns part of The Pokémon Company and Niantic so they're earning money directly and indirectly, and Pokémon Go is pushing the sales of other Pokémon games on 3DS as well so Nintendo is making more profit from this than some people realize...

yeah complicated stuff, it's fantastic for the future of the brand either way.
