It is like this with most of movies, specially big ones like this. They announce a 30 million budget in marketing, but even Paul Fig stated that the marketing resources are almos close to half the cost, meaning, around 75 million.
Also, the gross box office does not belong to the studio, the movie theater gets a cut and there are also taxes.
The breaking even point for this movie is probably 350 million, which it will get close in the long run, with DVD, netflix and stuff like that.
That said, I watched the movie last night on putlocker, could not pass the 20 minute mark. It is probably a good movie to people that do not like the original 2 movies, but to fans of Ghostbusters (1984) it is a really hard movie to watch.
Not because they are women, but because it has a Star Wars prequel feel, like, a farse based on a good thing.
