Well, these are pretty much bullshots, as ALL racing games pretty much do nowadays when promoting them. These are not gameplay shots. The gameplay shown, that's what people have been complaining about. But as with any other game, it should look better and better as release draws near.

You could also stay up to date with it and go watch the newer videos. The first build shown was an early build, and they've since improved it.
