Yup and people forget that the main reasons Nintendo did poorly in those two generations was because of their hubris.  For the N64, they chose carts when all of their 3rd party partners wanted larger storage mediums and lost 3rd party support because of it -- the loss of Squaresoft was probably the one that hurt the most since they were the one 3rd party company that Nintendo could not afford to lose in Japan.  For the gamecube, they disregarded online when it was the big thing everyone wanted and tried to hold onto local multiplay because they didn't want to lose all that extra peripheral money nor spend the money towards an online infrastructure.

This hybrid thing though?  I hate it the way it's being presented in these Eurogamer rumors because it's a solution that doesn't satisfy anyone.  It's probably going to be too expensive to satisfy handheld people and too weak to satisfy console people.  That's why I think we're not getting the complete picture and what Eurogamer is presenting is (at best) only a piece of the puzzle.

Exact same thing I said in other threads lol. I expect anything at this point, we already know Nintendo's so out of touch that it hurts.

Yeah, the only way this even comes close to working to me is if the SCD is an actual thing.  At least in that scenario the console owners get something good.  Honestly though, I think either this hybrid is one form factor for the NX  or Eurogamer got taken for a ride.
