While I do believe the media is sensationalizing the whole "black people vs the police" thing (I do believe there is racism in the police force, just not as prevalant as they make it out), I do think all of this helps show we need better trained cops. The fact he shot an unarmed man with his hands up shows his incompetence as an officer -and is certainly not someone I'd trust my life with. This is probably the worst case so far, since his hands were clearly up when he was shot and not a threat to the police at any capacity. I'm glad the guy lived though, too many of these stories end up with people dead

As a black man with a lot of Police officers as friends, I can tell you that in certain states and neighborhoods its really that prevalant.  Also if you are a successful black person in a nice neighorhood where its predominate white you will be racial profiled as someone who is in the narcotic business unless they police know you.  Its something blacks have dealt with in the US for a very long time and only social media and the advent of the camera phone has put this very sensitive subject in more of the spotligh.  Also this is definitely not one of the worst case situations, this is something that happens more often then you probably want to know.
