You can add sex to a comic story in a way that adds to it (see Jessica Jones), but this doesn't seem like it was a well thought out decision. Of course, I haven't seen the movie. |
You nailed it in that last paragraph, their relationship in the movie not only is wrong but it doesn't add anything relevant to the story. Honestly it's just a bad attempt to give Batgirl some background and character developement.
