While I do believe the media is sensationalizing the whole "black people vs the police" thing (I do believe there is racism in the police force, just not as prevalant as they make it out), I do think all of this helps show we need better trained cops. The fact he shot an unarmed man with his hands up shows his incompetence as an officer -and is certainly not someone I'd trust my life with. This is probably the worst case so far, since his hands were clearly up when he was shot and not a threat to the police at any capacity. I'm glad the guy lived though, too many of these stories end up with people dead
