But a mini NES based on modern hardware with HD support (at least according to their commercial) that doesn't even have a functioning card slot is somehow more retro? I also don't really buy that adding wi-fi and connecting it to an existing struckture like eshop and miiverse would have considerably driven up costs. Adding a wlani module is not expensive. Also who talked about a wireless controller? Not me. I agree that it gives great value for what it is and in a way I love that it's so toy-like. It reminds me of the mini gameboys you used to get with happymeals in the 90s (just better, because it actually plays video games). Like I said it just seems like a missed opportunity to re/introduce a wider audience into their eco-system. This is what they are trying to do with mobile games, funnel that additional crowd back to the dedicated hardware. They should pursue the same approach here imo. |
Internet supor and eshop and miiverse would definitely raise costs, because then console would need to have OS also.
They will do that even without eshop or internet connection, for most of people far more is important lower price than eshop support, and you really don't need eshop because you already have built in 30 NES hits.
