But why isn't it integrated with eshop and miiverse? Why nintendo?
It's the perfect way to reintroduce a lot of your audience to the NX come march!
Besides, getting 30 classics with the system and then being able to fill out your library via virtual console would just be logical.

Because a NES Mini with online functionality wouldn't be retro, that's why.

Because this is completely standalone plug and play product without any connectivity whatever, and ever other option for NES Mini means higher price of product (and curent price is very afordible), and NES Mini with net connectivity, eshop and miiverse or wireless controller wouldn't be exactly retro.

This is just NES Mini with built in games, nothing more nothing less, and actually has great value for its price.

But a mini NES based on modern hardware with HD support (at least according to their commercial) that doesn't even have a functioning card slot is somehow more retro?

I also don't really buy that adding wi-fi and connecting it to an existing struckture like eshop and miiverse would have considerably driven up costs. Adding a wlani module is not expensive.

Also who talked about a wireless controller? Not me.

I agree that it gives great value for what it is and in a way I love that it's so toy-like. It reminds me of the mini gameboys you used to get with happymeals in the 90s (just better, because it actually plays video games). Like I said it just seems like a missed opportunity to re/introduce a wider audience into their eco-system.

This is what they are trying to do with mobile games, funnel that additional crowd back to the dedicated hardware. They should pursue the same approach here imo.
