A man was laying on the ground with his hands up after committing no crime. Calmy explained himself and the position and still got shot. That's what matters, not what the cop said.

Yeah I agree that in this case what the cop said adds little to the story but of course it does add a little icing on the cake of how much of a mistake he made if it was true that he said "I don't know" directly in response to if this man asked him "why did you shoot me" it would be like if he replied with "because I hate n*****s" to him or something like... clearly it does change the whole story of the shooting and adds other levels to why this awful mistake happened. I mean the fact that the unarmed man was black isn't really important to the story either, but that doesn't mean it hasn't made its way into the headlines and thread title.

The fact that he's black is quite important given the recent shootings we've had of police. The police probably wouldn't have even been called if they were both white
