It's strange because when i first played this I wasn't a father. I now have a 2 year old daughter and that scene at the start hits me hard compared to how it did when I was childless. Also it makes me really like Ellie a lot more even though I thought she was a awesome character first playthrough.

The sheer desperation of the entire scene is traumatic, but to end it in such a sudden and helpless way... How scared she is, how scared he is, and the growing understanding of what was happening with none of the acceptance. It's a terrifying nightmare that every parent will have at some point (though hopefully not in person).
