The only claim Nintendo has on this is they own a third of The Pokemon Company which by itself does not make this a Pokemon game. Notice the lack of Nintendo logos? However this does benefit Nintendo immensely because it has boosted the popularity of Pokemon which can have great effect on the next game release. |
That's the power of branding at its finest there though. Nintendo shows up in Pokemon Go on the servers are down screen and in the about screen as a copyright holder, nothing more. However, because Pokemon has always been on Nintendo platforms, people instantly associate Pokemon with Nintendo. Synonymous at this point really
